Meet our Director of Mental Health Resources: Greg Podolak (MSW Supervisee)

"Since the middle of 2023, I have been spearheading a wellness initiative for Law Enforcement throughout the Commonwealth in an attempt to bridge divides between the Mental Health Community and Law Enforcement Agencies. Essentially, the whole idea is to experience the work of an officer vicariously- this is done through continuous ride-alongs. In the event that we experience a critical or traumatic call, we are now bonded by that call. This framework would allow for us to discuss the event, whether in real time or after the fact, with a person that the officer is familiar with. I have working relationships with various departments, including: First Precinct RPD, Henrico Police and Chesterfield Police. My background includes coming from an LE family, doing overnights with Richmond Ambulance Authority while in grad school as apart of my Clinical program and being apart of many non-profit/private organizations for First Responders and their families. I work at a private practice, called Halfwild Counseling, where I work solely with First Responders, and provide individual, EMDR and group therapy.
